We kindly request all presenters at the 48th JNS Meeting (hereafter referred to as "this Meeting") to first register for the meeting and submit their abstracts.
The call for abstracts for oral and poster presentations is now open. Please submit your abstract through the abstract submission system.

1. Abstract Submission Period

The abstract submission period is different from the pre-registration period.
Symposium presenters must submit their abstracts. We ask the symposium organizers to cooperate in making sure that the speakers submit their abstracts.

※We will not extend the deadline nor invite additional papers after the deadline. Please submit your papers by the deadline.

 

 

2. Abstract Submission Eligibility

  • The presenting author (first author) must register for the meeting and submit their own abstract.Abstract submissions by co-authors on behalf of the presenting author are not permitted.
  • Each individual may submit one abstract as a first author for either a symposium, an oral presentation, or a poster presentation. Speakers of plenary, special, educational, award lectures, and luncheon seminars may also submit an abstract for a symposium, an oral presentation, or a poster presentation as a first author.
  • First authors must obtain consent from all co-authors before submitting the abstract.
  • The presenting author (first author) must be a member of the Japan Neuroscience Society (JNS), Non-members are encouraged to apply for membership immediately.
  • Please note that it may take approximately one week to receive your membership ID after submitting your application. We advise applying for membership well in advance. If the membership application process is not completed by the time the program is finalized, your abstract may be retracted.
  • Those whose membership is currently inactive should ensure their membership is reactivated by the start of the meeting.

※2 Presentations and Q&A of Educational lectures are to be conducted in Japanese (English also permitted). Presentation slides of those lectures are to be prepared in both Japanese and English.
※3 Organizers will decide the time allocation. The meeting secretariat will inform all symposium speakers of their presentation time in late June after the organizers decide.

 

4. Regular presentations

1) Notes on submitting papers

  • You will be asked to indicate your preferred presentation format on the submission screen. Please choose either an oral or poster presentation. Presenters for the Training School for Next Generation Scientists will be selected from those who choose oral presentations and apply for the session. The final decision will be made by the Program Committee. Your presentation format will be confirmed in the acceptance notification email.
  • Please select the category for your presentation from the List of Categories (pdf).
  • Guidelines for poster presentations, including poster dimensions, will be announced on our website one month prior to the meeting.

2) Training School for Next Generation Scientists

This session is designed for young scientists, offering them the opportunity to engage in dynamic discussions about their research projects with leading experts in the field. Presenters will have extended time for their presentations and discussions, allowing for in-depth feedback and insightful advice. If this opportunity excites you, welcome to apply for the Training School for Next Generation Scientists!

Eligibility: Undergraduate students, graduate students, and those who received a Ph.D. within five years at the time of the 48th JNS meeting.
* Applicants not selected for this session will be considered for either oral or poster presentations. Please note that they will not be eligible for the Junior Investigator Poster Award.

Presentation time: 30 minutes per presenter (15 minutes for the presentation and 15 minutes for discussion and feedback). * Presentations will be scheduled in the same time slots as the regular oral sessions.
Number of presenters: 24 sessions / 48 presenters
Presentation topic: Research projects (same as regular oral presentations). You may also address unresolved aspects of your research, challenges you are facing, or questions related to your presentation.
Selection: Leading researchers will select the most outstanding presentations. Details on selection methods and criteria will be provided in the meeting program.
Announcement and award ceremony: Certificates of commendation will be awarded to presenters selected for their excellence.

3) Junior Investigator Poster Award

There will be an award for the best poster presented by undergraduate students.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students who are enrolled at the time of submission will be considered for evaluation (graduate students are not eligible).
To apply, select "Apply for Junior Investigator Poster Award" when submitting your paper.
Student ID and your supervisor’s approval are required.

4) Travel Award for Domestic Scientists

We offer a Domestic Travel Award to undergraduate and graduate students residing in Japan who present oral or poster presentations at the meeting. Award recipients will be selected based on the quality of their papers and travel itineraries, and they will receive partial travel support. To apply, select "Apply for Domestic Travel Award" when submitting your abstract. Please note that this award is distinct from the Travel Award for Foreign Scientists, and only domestic participants are eligible.

5) Travel Award for Foreign Scientists

Application process differs from general registration.

5. Disclosure of Conflict of Interest (COI)

When presenting at the Japan Neuroscience Society meeting, you will be required to disclose any conflicts of interest involving the lead presenter, corresponding author (including non-members), and their spouses or first-degree relatives (those sharing income or assets) for the one year preceding abstract submission.
If applicable, any conflicts of interest must also be disclosed during your presentation at the meeting.

6. How to Submit your Abstract

1) Registration Process (Create an account, register for the meeting, and submit an abstract)

Please click on the “Registration System” button at the bottom of this page to create an account and register for the meeting. Once your registration is complete, you will be able to proceed with submitting your abstract.
To view or modify your entries, you will need to log in to the system.Please be sure to keep your account information (login ID and password) until you receive notification of acceptance or non-acceptance of your abstract.
We kindly ask for your understanding that we are unable to assist with inquiries related to login IDs and passwords for security reasons.

2) Abstract Submission Flow: From Entry to Completion

  • Follow the instructions on the abstract submission screen and enter the required information.
  • Once your submission is completed, a confirmation email will be sent automatically. If you do not receive the email within 60 minutes, your abstract may not have been successfully registered into the system. In this case, please submit your abstract again. Additionally, be sure to check your spam folder for the confirmation email.
  • Depending on your PC environment, certain characters may not display correctly in the confirmation email. However, if they appear correctly in the registration system, there is no cause for concern.

3) Character Limit

The abstract body is limited to 1,500 - 2,500 characters, including space, special characters, symbols, and HTML tags used for text formatting.
To count characters, please click “body” to select all text, copy, click on the “Characters Counter” button, and paste the text into the counter box. Please note that abstracts with more than 2,500 characters will not be accepted.

4) Special Characters and Text Formatting

If you wish to use special characters or text formatting, please copy and paste the necessary symbols from the list displayed in another window on the abstract submission screen.

 

7. Viewing /Modifying Submitted Abstracts

  • You can view or modify your submitted abstract only during the abstract submission period. Please log into the registration system and make the necessary changes.
  • Once the call for abstracts has closed, you will not be able to modify any registered information, including the abstract text, author names (both first author and co-authors), or affiliations. No exceptions will be made, regardless of the circumstances.
  • Submitted abstracts will not be proofread in principle.The registered information will be published on the Abstract browsing system as entered, so the submitting author is responsible for ensuring that all affiliations and co-authors are correctly listed without omissions.

8. Abstract Acceptance Notification

Notifications regarding the acceptance or non-acceptance of regular abstracts will be sent via email in early April, following the finalization of the program. The acceptance notification will include details such as the presentation date, time, format, and room. The decision regarding acceptance or non-acceptance of abstracts is at the discretion of the Program Committee. Please be aware that your abstract may not be accepted.

9. Important Notes

  • Accepted abstracts will be published in the JNS Meeting Planner 2025 in early July, prior to the meeting. The exact publication date will be announced on our website or through mail newsletters.
  • If you require a “Proving Document for Seeking Application for Provision of Exceptions to Lack of Novelty of Invention” under Article 30 of the Patent Act, please contact the meeting secretariat at (jns2025@aeplan.co.jp).
